Hey there! I’m Elise, owner and operator of Spare Seat, based in Adelaide, South Australia.
As a lover of the outdoors, I’m on a mission to make it accessible to everyone, especially those who feel disconnected or out of place. Whether it's overcoming anxiety, bridging gaps in experience, or challenging preconceived notions about being "outdoorsy," I am dedicated to creating unique experiences that are safe, enjoyable, and free from judgement.
With over a decade of teaching experience, I've honed my ability to connect with diverse individuals, navigating challenges such as low mental health, ASD, ADHD, and complex learning needs, while successfully involving them in outdoor pursuits.
I’m fully aware that life can be an absolute circus and some days we just need to escape (but not ignore) it. Most people probably think of conquering outdoor adventures as scaling mountains and lugging around hefty packs. But for me, I am about celebrating the everyday wins – recognising that for many, simply leaving the house to head to the beach or overcoming the sensory challenges of applying sunscreen is a monumental accomplishment. I’m also about good food, comfy gear, and not carrying heavy stuff for too long!
Let's throw away the trangia, the bulky backpacks, and the outdated ideas of outdoor exploration. It’s time to create our own brand of adventure in our beautiful backyard of South Australia.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
It all begins with an idea. We could be Stand Up Paddling at Grange Beach, wandering through Kuipto Forest taking photos, or camping down on Yorkes Peninsula. Where do you want to go?
